bleeding trim cylinder lines

I have a 1983 mercruiser 485 had new upper uotdrive installed i had to turn the trim cylinders around they were upsidr down well I loosend the small metal hoses little fluid leaked out looked milky well took cylinders off turned them around tightend everything back now when I push my trim butten up or down nothing I can lift lower unit by hand about 12"-18" with ease any ideas

are you sure you have the up lines fastened to the up end of the cylinders? if the lines at the manifold are crossed it will not work. the cylinders are desined so if they are not conneced properly they cant work. and if you have milk for fluid you need to drain flush and refill the system as per your service manual. then you will have to find where the water in the system came from. post which manual your using and ill try to tell you what page to look at.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Rodbolt, thanks for the reply when i turned the trim cylinders around i did not disconnect the lines I just loosend them enough to turn cylindres

That system Is self-bleeding; Cycle It a few times and top off the resevoir...Rinse, lather, repeat
