looking at purchasing boat but am concerned about several small blisters in paint on side of hull. when I squeezed a couple of them a brown oily like substance came out. What is this? can it be fixed or should I just steer clear of this boat? The boat is a Sharkcat 560 if this is of any relevance. Also the RHS transom is cracked along the top the transom still seems strong is this a major repair? Thanks

scotty.emu,

If it like brown syrup and there is wood behind it (like in the transom) it is an indication that the wood inside the glass has become saturated with water and is rotting.

Where were the blisters? Transom?
Was there wood inside the glass where the blisters were?

Hope this helps.

Safe boating to all.

Cheers.

emp.

Sorry for the double post. With regard to replacing the transom, it is somewhat of a major job but very do-able.

Safe boating to all.

Cheers.

emp.

thanks for your reply ed there are no blisters on/in transom but there are several along side of hull about pea size and only just under paint.
