I have a 92 18' Tidecraft bass boat w/150 Johnson Fast Strike. When I get about 1/4 mile and up to speed the front end will suddenly take a dive the rpms stay the same the speed will stay the same somewhat. I was told it was not my trim but the motor is coming out of the water and causing the front to fall. Does anyone has a comment on this.
I am sorry I did not finish when the front end drops my wake is up in front of me when it is on full plane the wake is behind me then it will move to the front and it is very hard to steer.

Re: Blow Out

If your prop was braking loose your RPM would spike and you'd lose speed not to mention being able to hear it.

Have you tried triming out a little when this happens?

Re: Blow Out

What you describe is normal when comming over the step to being fully on plane. It is normal for the nose to drop at that point.

Re: Blow Out

To just expand a bit on what SoLittle said, that process is called "climbing out of the hole" or the "hole shot" Once you climb out of the hole the bow drops abruptly and you are now "on Plane"

Foregive me if you know this but typically here is how you get started:

You smootly advance to full throttle (also called WOT or wide open throttle)

Then, while one plane, you trim out/up (raise the drive) your bow will then begin to rise again. You trim up until you reach max speed and then begin to porpoise (bow bouncing) then you trim back in until that stops. You are now at maximum performance point. Throttle back to your intended cruising speed and make trim adjustments as necessary.

Hope this helps.
