Hello,

As for the blower vent hoses - do these need to be "special" marine ventilation hoses for gas vapors?

...or can I go to my local Lowes/Home Depot and pick up a dryer vent hose??

If I can use a dryer hose - get the plastic one - or should I get a metal one?

Thanks!

Marine blower hose is made from thicker plastic, stuff I've seen. I used dryer hose from Lowes on my old boat and it was cracking and dryed out in 6-7 (???) years. Black marine hose looks better than the white dryer hose too. I used Marine hose on my current boat....

I woulnd't use metal hose, too much of a risk of shorting something electrical out on the hose, doubt the aluminum hose would handle vibration as well as plastic hose either.

bilge blower hose is cheaper, comes in longer lengths and is better.

Most of the blower hose is 3 inch and dryer is 4 inch. I would have no issue with dryer hose, but I had to by a 50 foot piece of 3 inch just to replace a 4 foot section

Great info all - thank you! I think my current blower hose is a dryer hose - I might just check the HW stores and see what they have. Living in AZ - we definitely have to contend with the heat - so I may just have to watch for cracking if I buy the cheaper stuff... It has already hit 90 here...urgh.

I just replaced all of my vent hoses last week from the Lowe’s drainage section...found a variety heavy duty flexible corrugated hoses...worked perfect for my boat

The vent hose I use in my engine compartment meets the UL 94V standard, so that it doesn't support flame, like this Shields Vinylvent Series 420 hose.

It is a bad practice to use non UL rated hose for this application, where a powered fan could accelerate flame from a burning hose.

That's a nice bower hose - where did you buy it from? Direct from the manufacturer?
