Blowing ignition fuse upon returning shifter to neutral

I have a 1997 Maxum 20' Cuddy, I finished the re-powering this month. I replaced 5.7 260HP 2BL with a 5.7 4BBL from Barr engines.

When we had the boat out for the maiden voyage, the 15A ignition fuse would pop when the shifter was returned to the neutral position. The fuse is attached to the purple/red wire in the wiring harness.

I replace the slave solenoid and a new starter during the re-power.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like you may have a frayed wire in the kill switch circuit, that shorts out when you move the control handle. Just a guess:confused:.
