Blown Fuse

I own a 74/75 Cobalt. We were boating on the weekend and after about 20 minutes suddenly my panel switches all shut down, lights, blower, stereo, pump everything thats on its own switch but the top half of the panel, gas gauge, trim, ect. all kept working. Checked the fuses and the main power fuse was blown and when I tried replacing it,blew again. Any simple fix come to mind? Boat never shut down, kept running. Thx for any help.

Re: Blown Fuse

I don't think there is a simple fix :( it will take some time to trace. You have a short somewhere. If you can isolate parts of the circuit you may be able to narrow it down a little. I would first check any exposed wires - those that are liable to be flexed or damaged. Then pull the instrument panel and check for loose wires.

Re: Blown Fuse

The main accessory power feed has a problem, it sounds like the main fuse at the battery is the one that is out.
