My mechanic tells me I have to replace my switchbox because of a bad rectifer. He say's a bad coil was the culprit and it's a pretty common cause of switch box and stator failures.
I read another post where sschefer said the switch box got it's voltage through the rectifer but Ladies said no.
I went and got a clymers manual and sure enough. There's at least one rectifier in the switch box and most commonly there are two. So if you include the one for the battery then there are three all together.
So, it is true that the switchbox gets it's power from the rectifer just not the one that everyone thinks off first off.
