Re: Blue Marble Oil

While the Blue Marble website says "meets or exceeds",
There does not seem to be any certification in the NMMA TC-W3 certification list for any of their products:

http://www.nmma.org/certification/programs/oils/

Most folks here have been able to choose from the literally dozens of NMMA TC-W3 Certified oils, which include many synthetics and synthetic blends.

Personally, I would recommend that you stay with the TC-W3 certified oils if your outboard is a two cycle, unless it is a newer motor requiring a specific manufacturer's formulation.

BTW, it isn't that certified oils are wrong for 4 cycle engines, but rather that NMMA has a separate certification for those oils: FC-W.

Re: Blue Marble Oil

Just saw the ad and all the bragging of the meets or exceeds qualifications, but they do like it at $30.00 plus a gallon so it needs to come with a nmma certification at that price. I'll just stick with my Evinrude oil!

The "stuff" may be great.

But---if they want to compete, they need NMMA approval. If it ain't TCW-3 rated, it's not getting anywhere near my outboards.

Use at your own risk!
