Hey guys, so I recently bought a Carolina skiff that has a Force 40 on it. The motor is a 1996, I took the boat out today and it ran well, the only issue I have is that when I got home and pulled the cover off the motor there is a bit of oil in the bottom of the motor housing. Its a 2 stroke motor so it fuel/oil mix. It is definitely blue oil. What would be causing that? I will take all ideas. I am mechanically inclined and can turn wrenches.

A lot of TWC-3 oil is colored blue. Search around for a broken oil recirculating hose or a leaking gasket on the bypass side. Understand that there is always a little spit-back from the carb. Gasoline will evaporate but oil will collect. It possibly may be a normal occurrence.

I am new to Force engines. I have always had a Mercury or Evinrude. I bought a boat with a 2004 70hp and I love how it performs. . I have noticed this oily looking coat in the bottom of the cowl. I was thinking I was adding too much oil (3oz) per gal. Where is the oil recirculation hose located.

hl You should start your own thread. That way everyone can see the post.
If you have a 2004 70 hp. you don't have a Force.
Someplace on the motor is sticker telling you the year.
No sticker? Then stbd.side under the electronics on the block is a foundry stamp.
They stopped making them in 98. The 70 was stopped in 95.
There are some small diameter hoses on the stbd. side of the power head.
They are the recrcirc system.
Some are the fuel hoses.
Usually a bit of oil is residue from the unburned gas sprayed from the carb.

Sorry for my memory lapse. I so use to starting dates in the 2000s that I missed the 2004 mistake. It is a 1994 engine. Thanks for the reply.
