Got a chance to check out some Bluesea and some seadog switch panels first hand. Obviosly the Bluesea is a superior product. Heres the question...
Is the the Bluesea worth the extra $100? If i use some dielectric grease and heat shrink on the connections, would the seadog be comparable, or at least good enough? trying to save $ for deck and transom.
What does the mob have to say about this?

IMO, what I have seen it appears that a lot of the equipment sold by BlueSea and Seadog is the same stuff. Maybe packaged a little different. BlueSea may have a higher level line of stuff in some cases, but the run of the mill stuff is the same as far as I can tell. There are other brands available that are selling identical stuff. Most of it comes from China anyway. The stuff they sell is vastly overpriced (IMO). (Nearly a $100 for a panel with 4 switches, get real!) You can get a lot of the same stuff cheaper through RV vendors or electronic/electrical suplliers (Allied, Newark, Mouser).

Thanx a lot, guys. The panels I was looking at were not comparable, but now I've researched more and see that many of their panels are almost identical. I appreciate the tips

BLUE SEA SYSTEMS is located in Washington, employs local residents, and manufactures excellent marine electrical wiring components. Marine electrical is their primary business. It was started by an experienced blue-water sailor.

SEA DOG is a branding for a USA distributor selling all kinds of marine components made by all kinds of vendors, but mostly inexpensive, made-in-Asia, knockoff products.

If you find some sort of resemblance between the products of BLUE SEA and SEADOG, it is probably due to the BLUE SEA product being copied and manufactured in some Asian factory by some random manufacturer, then shipped over here with packaging for the SEA DOG brand.

thanx for the input, everybody. The panel I want (contra switches with fuses) is about the same price from either company. Definitely prefer to support local, so Im going Bluesea
