I have a 92 Glastron with a 4.3 alpha one gen 2. We started on the lake this weekend without a problem. But through out the weekend I was having a problem with getting the boat above idle. I can rev it up in neutral just fine and idle around the marina just fine but as soon as i take it above idle it will bog down and die. When It started I could let the engine clear itself and then go, but as the weekend went on it would took 8-10 times of the boat dying before i could finally get it to go. The boat is obviously running rich due to the raw gas smell from the exhaust.
The same weekend I blew a small hole in my y pipe from a failed shutter. Would this be the root cause or should I be looking at my carb as well. I plan on pulling the motor this weekend to deal with the y-pipe and plan on checking out the plugs since it appears i can't pull them without pulling the manifolds although i have dug that deep into it. If it is a carb problem can I get some direction in identifying my carb and a manual to overhaul it and adjust it.
Thanks everyone for the help, this is my first boat and without this site i would have got rid of it a long time ago lol.
