just got a 25hp johnson for my deep fisherman boat and it cavatates when I increase the speed and I think I have a 20 inch shaft,what can I do?? how far down should the prop be below the hull?? thanks<br /><br /> Bob White
I'll try this...there are some differing opinions.<br /><br />The cavitation plate on the lower unit can be either an inch or two above the bottom of the boat or an inch or two below. Try even first and see if that stops the cavitation...lower if not. Correct adjustment should be no cavitation except in a tight turn and then possibly a little for the best speed. Higher is less drag.
