Boat cover problems... Ideas?

Our Ebbtide has a factory 2 piece cover and I have some questions...

Both covers fit great and the snaps stretch it tight but there is a section where they meet that is velcro. I can't seem to keep the cheesy velcro together - It rained today and as you can see in the pics, it collects water right there. I am curious if anyone has any ideas on how to easily get the two together. Ideally, something like a zipper would work, but my sewing skills are....... really, well, non-existent.

The other problem with it is I can't take it down the highway with the main cover on because if it doesn't clip to the bow cover, it acts as a huge air-brake.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take it to a canvas shop and have them sew in a zipper. Be aware that HD zippers are expensive. Make sure they double-stitch and use Gore Tenara thread. An alternative is to use "lift-the-dot" snaps, but I've found them to be less than ideal for that particular application.
As far as trailering, only a tight-fitting custom cover will survive a long trip at highway speeds.

Long time since....but....

My mother in law came down to see our newborn and while she was here, she sewed in a zipped on the cover for me.

WOOT - Problem solved:
