Is an acrylic coated polyester cover as good as shrinkwrapping is when it is applied to a boat for the winter? The cost of the poly cover is just a bit more than the shrinkwrapping is and the cover is guaranteed for 5 years. It would be on a 2002 Aquasport 215 Osprey Sport. Made by Taylormade Corp, same as the canvas that is on the boat now.

Re: Boat covers

Big difference in purpose! Shrink wrapping fits very tightly and is slippery to the point where snow and ice simply slide off. That is not true with any sort of fabric cover. Even properly supported, a fabric cover under a heavy layer of wet heavy snow can tear or sag causing a water pocket that freezes which then gathers more water/snow and self destruction follows. Shrink wrapping is for seasonal storage. Covers are for sun/rain protection during the boating season.
