I honestly don't know the answer, but it sounds like something is not lined up. Maybe the motor is loose and kicking sideways at full throttle, ie full torque. Just a thought........

Is you boat over powered? The torque of you propeller can do this if your over powered, Is your trim tab adjusted right? you may have to adjust it.

Re: Boat dipping one way

My boat did this when I first bought it. Turned out the problem was the hydra foil that the previous owner had on the motor.

not sure if its overpowered it has a 40hp johnson but the motor is early 60,s also the keel was just repaired but it has been doing this prior to it happening and the hydrofoil is the one thats on the motor the only thing i can think of is the motor at full throttle is lifting the front end too far out of the water could this be possible

Pictures?

By the way, did you get this issue taken care of?

Hey all
I have a 1060's evenrude 40 hp motor and it dosnt seem to have a properly fitting prop i would like to get a new one but need to know what the proper pitch of the prop would be. Im just using the boat to fish out of in small lakes and Bays if this has any bearing on it i dunno im also not towing anyone or anything just need to know what the right prop pitch would be for this.
Thanks
James

Jbabcock, If you still have the performance issue, I would recommend you put a long straight edge on various parts of the hull near the stern(both sides of the keel) and see if the hull has "hook" or "Rocker". Both can happen on those older hulls, and cause the issues you see.

You might try to tilt the motor up one hole as well. Normally the second hole from the bottom is for most hulls. You might try the third hole to see if it is better.
