I am hoping someone will have an idea of what might be going on. I took my 1994 Seadoo Speedster out for the first time this weekend. When i put it in the water, both engines started and idled great. Then when i gave it some throttle the rpms would go up to about 4000 and the engine sounded great, but just before i would get to plane speed the rpms would jump to 8000 and it felt like something was slipping. So i turned the boat off then back on and one person got off. Upon trying again the boat got up on plane and ran at about 45mph for most of the lake. Then the left engine went out. I put it in neutral and started it again and it will idle ( although it sounds strange) but when i give it gas it will only go to about 2000 rpms then it will die. I also had a little bit of water in the engine compartment. So anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

The gas in the tank is from last year i think i just got the boat and it had the gas in it. Would that cause the rpms to spike?

yes and no, crud could have partially filled the jets/injectors, and old gas is a no no.
empty the tank, swish some new stuff around empty again, put in new, replace all filters.
may help.

worn wear rings, or a plastic bag wrapped around the shaft. (ask me how i figured that one out!)
