there is no title to speak of,, its an old boat, here in Maine if its older than 10 yrs no title needed..could take the registration numbers to the town office, and they could run them, but that information may not be on the registration..

If it's newer than November 1, 1972 - it will have a hull identification number somewhere on the transom (usually upper corner) - but it looks like if yours had one, it was removed.. If you go to the town office and give them the registration number, and it is newer than 11/1/72, it will have the HIN on the registration. It will probably have all the details you are looking for too. Mine told me the manufacturer, manufacturing year, where it was manufactured, the engine that came on it originally, the original out drive, the dimensions, pretty much everything.

As a side note - not all boats have titles. Some states don't title boats so if the original sale from the manufacturer was to a state that doesn't (like Alabama), then a title wasn't created at the time of sale to the dealership. If the boat never lived in a state that titles boats, then it would never have had a title issued to it (like mine). In Alabama, the trailer is considered a part of the boat, so it is not titled either.

It's all in perspective, really. Plus side - its easier to transfer registration/ownership. Negative side - its easier to transfer registration/ownership.
