Re: Boat insurance.. Whos good?

I have heard horror stories about claims being denied by state farm.. I really dont want to risk problems like that..

I live by their corp HQ. and recently we had a lot of flooding down here, They denied a lot of claims to homeowners down here when other companies paid right up. I really dont know the particulars on it but it just got me thinking. I know I heard about Boatus and their freeze damage coverage... That too me sounded good right there. I know SF wouldnt conver that...

Tallman

I've had my boat insured with State Farm since I bought it in 1986. Had 3 claims (2 of them $2,000+) and they paid them with no problems.

I believe the agent can make a huge difference in how a claim is handled.

Tallman, you haven't done your homework. Flood insurance is handled through the federal government, and either you buy an extra policy from the National Flood Ins Program and have coverage, or you don't. No one....NO ONE....else sells flood insurance for your home.
State Farm might be the servicing company for flood insurance in Illinois, or another company may...there's only one serving company per state, and again, either you have a policy....or you don't.
Instead of jumping ship because you "heard something" why don't you talk to your agent? If Bloomington is the Co HQ, certainly there's someone around to tell you the true facts and help you make policy comparisons.
