Once you are on plane and running wide open throttle, your motor should be trimmed out, this will lift the bow and steering should become noticeably easier. If you are getting some lean, is it possible you are not loaded evenly?

Prop torque causes a lean to the left on almost all single screw O/B and I/O boats, but that is usually noticable throughout the operating range.

Does it have a hydrofoil on the lower unit? Wing-like thing?

Hi Steve, welcome to iboats!!

Remove the foil, adjust the the rudder tab & move the misses to the other side.

QC is correct on prop torgue. This can be a big problem on narrow boats. The reliable way to check for prop torque is to slow down quickly. If this then has the starboard side of the boat run low, prop torque is confirmed.

If this is not the case, then you need to look for errors in the planing surface of the hull - only need to check the surface wet when the listing occurs. Compare each side with a straight edge - particularly the area near the chine.

Come back with the results of these tests and we can probably help you some more.

I would adjust the trim tab on the back of the cavitation plate until the problem goes away.

Re: Boat leans when at full throtle

Prop torque seems the most likely as it has a fairly big prop i think its a 10" diameter and 15" pitch

i had hydrofoils on it but i found at full chat on the plane it wouldnt steer and just leaned insteed of turning (or is that what its ment to do?) so i removed them and then the leaning started.

Also what is the best way to cancel out prop torque.

Cheers for all your replys hopefull with your advice i will get this problem fixed

Thanks Steve

Hydrofoils . . . plural? Please describe in detail, methinks we aren't talking about the same thing . . . Maybe trim tabs?

QC- he could be referring to a doel-fin which has two seperate "wings" on the anti-cav plate
