I have a shoreStaion boatlift and am new to lifts. Is the boat suppose to rest on the 2 guides only or is it suppose to rest on the cross beams.

Re: boat lift

2 guides only, with the support beams ending at transom, guides need to be to either side of center of hull by only a couple of feet only, any more = hull stress.you do not want bottom of boat to hit the supports that run perpendicular to the guides..tear up the hull, also adjust so there is a slight fall front to rear to allow for drainage. When i install lifts,i mark the PVC guide poles to allow owner to gauge how far down lift has to be in order to have clearance enough to get boat on lift.
