Hello all,

I ma new to boating so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I just purchased a 89 Valiant VIP. It has a Cobra outdrive with a GM 4.3l V6. WHen I purchased the boat three weeks ago it started right up from a cold start and ran and sounded great. The boat sat for two weeks before I tried to start it. Here are my following problems now.

1-Motor is very hard to start now. It can take up to ten minutes of cranking and dumping gas down the carburator. It seems weird since when I bought the boat the motor was cold. I verified by toucking the block.

2-There is a loud ticking sound that seams to be coming from above the intake manifold area. The sound increases and decreases with the motor rpm. I tried the stethescope trick and still couldnt identify the location. It is louder on tiop of the intake manifold then the heads or block.

3-After running the motor for 30 minutes the fuel pump block off plate (someone installed an electric fuel pump) started leaking a grayish colored liquid. I assume it's water and oil. I checked the dipstick and the oil looks great. No signs of moisture or water.

Like I mentioned above. I didnt see or hear any of these issues when I bought the boat. I was pretty thorough when I inspected the boat. Any advice would be much appreciated.
