Hey guys, so new to the forum and fairly new to boat ownership. I need some help.

I have owned my 85 14' Alumacraft with a 20hp evinrude for a few years. Runs well but previous owners put heavy duty decking down for a nice flat bottom. But its so heavy its so so slow.

I recently purchased this 84 Sea Nymph with a 60hp evinrude. I want to make one kick ass boat between the two. Both motors work well.

The sea nymph has been stripped of all interior. So will need a lot for cosmetics. However, it also has significant cracks in the transom. Ive included pics of those. Which makes me feel this boat probably wont see water again.

Which brings me to this. Can the 60hp go on my 14' alumacraft do you guys think? If so, should I beef up the transom on my Alumacraft? The shaft length is virtually the same on both motors, however the mounting bracket on the 60hp, seems like it might be a bit too long to fit nicely on the Alumacraft. Is there a way around this? Would a jack plate solve that?

Thanks for any help guys!

the fiberglass boat has a rotten transom.

looks like the alumacraft transom has been re-skinned

The only 14' alumacraft for 1985 that I found was rated at 35hp, so that is what you can put on the alumacraft. in that case, the 60hp would be too much for the boat.

Fixing the transom might make a good project if the rest of the boat is ok
