boat motor wont turn over even with jump start

We just got a 1999 bayliner ciera 2665 cruiser with very little paper work on it. We took it right to the docks and put it in the water and the motor would not turn over. We replaced the battery, and even used another battery and jumper cables to try and get the motor to turn over, but still nothing. All we can get it to do is lower the propeler. The paper work i do have is in how the boat was put togather, and nothing on how to learn how to operate the boat for first time users. Any and all help with this would be great. tiygressa@bellsouth.net

You may have a starter-interrupt switch. Make sure the shifter is in neutral before starting.<br /><br />I had an issue where the boat would just 'click' but not turn over. Found out this small third wire on the starter solenoid was disconnected.
