Have 80 OMC 140 hp (inline 4). I am going to pump out of dipstick. Now how much oil will it take and just in case it does not suck up all oil how can I make sure I do not overfill? Also is 10w30 okay? Also if I run out of time tonight is it okay to let sit overnight with no oil? Thanks, Ron

Between 4 and 5 quarts.
IF you aren't sure, start checking at 3.

Does the word DIPSTICK suggest anything?

Also is 10w30 okay? OK, but not the best choice, what does your manual say to use?
Also if I run out of time tonight is it okay to let sit overnight with no oil? You could let it sit all week without oil as long as you don't start it.

"dipstick" I know a few of them. Ha. What I meant was do I need to add a little at a time and wait to settle but that was answered above. Start with a couple quarts. Thanks, and I assume I want the boat as level as possible.

Re: boat oil change questions

Just came in from attemp to drain oil. The tube that came with my pump would not go all the way down the dipstick, so I decided to just pull the plug but the plug has been replaced with a drain tube that comes up next to dipstick. Unscrewed cap and it has a garden hose style end on it. What do I need to get to pump from that fitting? Thanks
