Hello all. Recently purchased this Chris-Craft and it appears that the previous owner got silly with some polish or something and created some beige patches in an otherwise white boat. Wondering if anyone knows what caused this and how to fix it. Thanks !

Yellow is the usual discoloration color. Maybe they are gel coat patches where it had scratches.

If it is something ground into the gel coat a light sand should get rid of it.

first, need to clean the boat surface with a hull cleaner with oxalic acid in it to remove the mineral staining, then a light sanding with 600 grit followed by 800 grit, then polish it using two stages of polish.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like tannin staining.

As Scott noted, rinse hull with oxalic acid (Atwood instant hull cleaner) and see where that gets you.

If that doesn’t do it you have something embedded in the gel coat or.... the boat was not “white” originally and has faded to white over time.

Mine boat looks white until you hold something white against it or dock next to a newer model than mine.

You would have no clue the OEM color of my boat is beige

as an FYI, we stock 6 white paints that are common on yachts. there are about 150 or so "white" gel coat colors on boats

I'm wondering if someone polished with an electric polisher, pushed a bit too-hard, and burned the finish?
