I have a 16.5ft. prov hull and my question is this , can you have your boat positioned too far forward on the trailer?
when I first got the boat the hitch slide was always banging upward in the receiver indicating to me that there was too much weight in the rear end , so I moved the bow stop forward about 6 inches , but i was wondering if I could be putting undue strain on my fiberglass transom since now that the transom is actually slightly ahead of the last crossmember on the traileri suppose it doesn't help that I have car radial tires on the trailer cuz when inflated to the proper p.s.i the tires compress alot and allow the trailer to bounce like a ball! thnx

mark

Maybe the best would be to put the boat on the trailer so it is supported properly. Then move the axle for or aft until you have a tongue weight that is approx 7% of total trailer weight.

Roscoe has it.

First, position the boat so that it is properly supported.

Then position the axle carriage so that you have proper tongue weight.

Finally, get those auto tires off there and replace them with trailer (ST) rated tires with a load rating over 50% of the trailer weight.

Good luck. :)
