I got a 16' 120hp with a alpha 1 outdrive does anybody know what the right prop pitch should be and what the top speed should be? It has a 17 pitch and runs about 33

Re: boat prop size and pitch

We moved this over from the I/O section to props. More focus on your issue here. Take a read of the stickies at the top of this section. Ultimately what you'll learn is that there is no "right prop pitch" for an engine/drive combo. But here is right for your specific setup and load, and that can only be determined with info. Most importantly we need your RPM (good tach) at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). Trimmed and loaded as you would typically run your boat. But add as much info as you can. Boat type, age, previous experience with it. All of this will help as we consider whether she is running right, learn your gear ratio etc. Good luck :)
