Hello,

I am a new boater. I have a stratus bass boat with a 1991 90 hp evinrude and a stabilizer fin. Took the boat out the other day and it ran great. When I went to leave a spot the motor hit a stump slightly. Didn't think anything of it until I planed out. Then I noticed the boat was pulling hard to the right. Doesn't seem to do it until I get good speed up. I checked the lower part of the motor. Nothing seems wrong. Trim tab is still in same position it was in before. Also, now when the motor is centered the steering wheel is turned. Before the steering wheel was centered with the motor. What should I do??? Is there a way to center the steering wheel again and correct this problem. Thanks in advance.

Oconee
If the trim tab is in the same spot then something is bent. Lower skegg maybe. You may be able to move the trim tab to correct the pull to the right but if you are sure it is in the same position then I would look for something bent.

Sounds like you did More Damage than you Thought.....
I'm sure it's Fixable,
But you've got to Find the Damage......

Thanks. I will go look again and see if I can see anything bent.

Re: Boat pulls hard to the right.

Nope nothing is bent that I can tell. I did move the trim tab to the right a few notches. Not sure if that will help or not. The reason that I know the trim tab was in the same position is the bolts from the stabilizer fin rest against the circular part of the trim tab and make like a half circular cut in it. With the stabilizer fin mounted the trim tab can't move right or left. I took the stabilizer fin off and moved the trim tab over to the right a few notches and I guess I will try it and see if it still pulls.
