boat pulls right

Hey guys, my boat pulls right pretty badly. I have noticed that my outboard is not exactly centered on the transom. It's to the left about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Does this make a big difference? I have a 40 horse on a 16 foot lund.

No matter the amount, a motor off centre should be corrected. At the same time, look at your setup in general (mounting height, trim angle).

Once it is OK do another test, and adjust the trim tab to fix any pull.

Dont worry about it being centered on the transom. It needs to be centered with the keel or centered on the pad, whichever you have.

How have you got the boat loaded is the batt. gas tanks ect on the same side of the boat you are? Another thing to look at is (does the boat have a hook in it) i had one that did and it pulled to the right up untill i opened the motor up then as the speed increased it started to get uncontrolable.
