In TX we don't really have much of a winter, but the boat sat with plugs pulled and battery disco'd thru the 4-5 month of winter.
We had a terribly hot summer last year, so the boat hasn't been used much since June of last year.
Long story short, I changed the engine and the drive oil, put the 5 blue plugs in, reconnected the battery and BLAMMO she fired right up on muffs. O pressure looked great, came up to temp and held...all seems GREAT. No need to worry.
Got the boat dropped in the water...BLAMMO fired right and idled fine.
Got out of the no wake zone, eased into the throttle got up on plane and the sputtering and bogging started. Limped back to the dock by feathering the throttle, it died a few time along the way.
My initial thought was the fuel. But it smells fine and has stabil over the winter. Called dad... he asked if we left fuel in the carb over the winter... We did. He recommended pulling the carb off and giving it a good cleaning. Sounds logical to me.
Any other idea on things to check?
TIA
