I got a couple of spiffy used folding boat seats for my wife and I with swivel clamps to fasten to the bench seats of rental fishing boats, like the standard 14 ft. aluminums you see at resorts and marinas. So far so good.

The clamps spread from 7 inches to about 12 inches, maximum. I don't know the brand, I think they are Wise - they were on the seats and the guy I bought them from said he bought them that way (no instruction sheets). Anyway, I see ads for similiar clamps and they are supposed to spread to 16.5 inches to 19 inches depending on the brand.

One side of the clamp has wing nuts for adjustment and the other side of the clamp has a threaded sleeve, 1 inch long. It looks like it's an extension sleeve of some sort, to screw another threaded rod into to extend the clamp for a bench seat wider than 12 inches.

I'm either missing something or I don't know how to operate these things.

1. I need some info on how to mount these clamps on a boat bench seat. Is there a "proper" method?

2. How wide are the bench seats in these type of boats, 12 to 14 or 16 ft open rental fishing boats? I think they are wider than 12 inches.

3. How do I mount these clamps on a seat wider than 12 inches?

Thanks,
