I have an 19' bayliner, with 87" Force 125 hp motor. I have owned the boat for two years, but untill recently
,had no working speedometer. I know the motor is getting a little tired, but I am looking for an opinion. The other day i was
out on the river ( the water semi. choppy) the boat had five adults, all over 200lbs.I maxed out the throttle, and the speedo was reading between
30-35mph. How does that sound???
Thanks

Re: Boat speed

That sounds fine. That is a large boat and a lot of weight to have to push around for just a 125hp engine.

TMD

Re: Boat speed

I'd say you're speedo is off. Pivot type speedos are notorious for not being accurate. A friend of mine bragged that his new boat would do 50 mph on a flat day. Well the next time out I went along and brought a GPS to validate his claim. Well, it turns out that his 50 mph top end was more like 37 mph measured with a GPS.
