Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know if there is a difference between marine and automotive tachos my tacho is dead and i have a spare automotive one lying around doing nothing i was considering using.
Is this able to be fitted up to the outboard or will it not work.
The switch on the back allows it to be selected between 4 6 8 cylinder motors but the boat motor is a 2 cyl
Thanks

Re: Boat Tacho

NO. For an inboard maybe. Outboard tachs read the pulses from the stator.

They are set up by how many poles or coils the stator has and not cylinders. Completely different sensing system.

Stators have like 8, 10 or 12 poles.
