Boat tilting to the left when cruising....

When I'm at full speed with my boat, I notice that the entire boat is tilting to the port side. I know it can't be a weight problem, because the gas tank is on the starboard side along with myself. My wife is on the port side and she only weighs about 120lbs.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Could this be caused by poor engine mounts?

There is a "planing" fin on the outdrive and that does have one corner broken off. Probably only about an inch or so. Perhaps this could cause the problem?

Please help!

~Phil

That fin may or may not be the issue. Remove it and see if it effects the handling. If the right (starboard) corner is broken, I would definetely suspect it.

I'm actually thinking that the right starboard corner is the corner that is broken a little. Its not much, maybe only an inch or so, but I will check and try taking it off before I put the boat back in the water.

Thanks.

~Phil

If your wife's like mine, I'd weigh her.

Like my answer in your other post.

Lose the fin, install the tabs.

Problem solved.

I'm hoping that just losing the fin will fix the problem. I don't care if it takes me a little longer to get up on plane. As long as I eventually get on plane, and the boat is level, I'm good :)

~Phil

If it is tilting to the left at full throttle then it is most likely torque from the engine. Not much can be done except trim tabs.

I would have thought with all that money you make off of those weight loss books and the TV show you could afford a bigger boat. :) :D :)
