When I am on plane with my boat and get out of the throttle as it slows down the boat tilts to the right side hard. I have a 78 ranger 158v which is a 16ft bass boat and a 1975 85hp johnson on the back....any suggestions??

You need to look at the over all perfomance. What does it do when under acceleration and when cruising? Does it go streight when you let go of the wheel while cruising? Is the trim tab above the prop and on the bottom of the cavitation plate pointing one way or another?

A question: When you're stopped, does the boat list to that side? If so, then it could be just a weight distribution thing. I've not used that model Ranger, so I can't say for sure, but it could just be weight distribution.

Usually, that can be corrected by shifting some of the cargo in the boat away from the heavy side.

myoutboards;

I would prefer that we know what is causing the problem before we attempt to hide it with anything, even Smart Tabs.
