Hello everyone,

I am taking delivery of a Mercury 460 RIB and need help with the trailer. The boat weighs 280 LBS dry, plus the motor, a 50 hp suzuki, weighs 230 lbs, which brings the weight to 510, plus another 50 or so of coolers, gas and junk.

I am considering these two:

The first is a trailer from Academy. It is a jon boat trailer with a max capacity of 649 lbs... I can move the bunks to fit the boat. It has 4 ft between fenders

The second trailer is used and it is 15'. It looks beefier. The only difference is it is wider 5 ft between fenders. IDK if this makes a difference or not. Plus, I may have to adjust the front rollers' angles or take them off and put a center roller on the trailer

Please let me know which trailer is a better fit.

I would buy the used trailer.
I would repack the bearings, put on new seals, repaint it, new LED lights and electrical and make or adjust bunks that fit your boat.
The used trailer looks much more heavy duty than the new one. Remember, lightweight axles usually don't hold up well.

I'd pick the used one as it is wider and will be more stable
