Personally, I just stick with brand names. I have not found one to be better than another.
I've been buying 12" tires from Rusty Bore's Tire Store. He handles bigger sizes too. I'd hafta go out and check to see what brand they are.

I'm surprised you have no replies as of yet. Seems like perfect fodder for a thread war.

depend on the size of the tire you need. Carlise specializes in trailer tire. there are more of them on the road than any other brand. they have been given a bad rap occasionally, but that is because they have more tires on the road. 99% of all trailer tire failure, is due to operator error. tire pressure is essential with trailer tires, underinflated, very common, causes them the run HOT, causing blow outs.

i have been using Carlise, and Tow Master for years without any problems.

Although many "brand name" trailer tires are made offshore, I recently had to warranty two NANKO tires that had split in nearly all areas of the tire. I had no trouble getting the tires replaced (no charge) but these tires were on a 2008 trailer but the date code was 2004. My spare is a Carlisle and it even looks like a better tire. I've always used Good Year trailer tires and never had an issue but as was pointed out, Carlisle is a well known brand.

tire pressure is essential with trailer tires, underinflated, very common, causes them the run HOT, causing blow outs.

The guy I bought my boat from last year said he kept the trailer tire presser low ON PURPOSE to prevent overheating? LOL. Needles to say, the first thing I did after getting the boat was put more air in the tires.

I usually run goodyears because a buddy of mine owns a tire store and that's the brand he carrys. It's even more important on a boat trailer to keep them properly inflated since 95% of the time you're using it its hot out.

I've had people tell me that every five years you should replace your trailer tires regardless of how they look if you trailer your boat very far. I don't know if i buy that or not but I'd really hate to blow a tire and rip off my fender that's colormatched to the boat and have to try to match the metalic black. It'd make me sick. Especially since I trailer my boat 100-150 miles on a regular basis.

also keeping the tires covered and out of the sun, they will last much longer.

I would also go with the highest load-rated tires available in your size. In addition to a greater safety margin, they will also have a higher maximum inflation pressure, which should reduce rolling resistance a little.
