I took my trailer to a local truck scale. The attendant was nice enough to weigh it for free. I pulled onto the scale so my tow vehicle tires were just off the scales, checked weight. Then I unhooked the trailer so it was completely off the hitch, checked weight. The weights were 2780lbs and 2960 lbs respectively. The difference being 180 lbs which I figure is my tongue weight. Is that correct?
Now I'd like to know what my boat weighs. It's a Vanson trailer, single axle, 96" wide (wheel fender to wheel fender) and approx. 18' long constructed of C-channel. I'm guessing 500 to 600 lbs. I plan on blocking up the boat to work on the trailer and would just like to know how heavy the boat is while I'm jacking it up. BTW, the boat is a 1978 Caravelle bow rider, Mercruiser I/O L6 in case anyone happens to own the same.
Thanks
