Anyone considering having a boat transported (particularly houseboats)needs to be aware of a company I had and am having trouble with. I do not wish to violate the terms of use on this board so I will for now not mention the name. If the admins or mods have no problem with it neither do I. I am new to this board and think I have it set as to where members may contact me by e-mail. If anyone is interested feel free to contact me.

Re: Boat transportation

I also had problems with a boat transport company. They damaged my boat and refused to give me the name of their insurance company. I finally filed a claim with my insurance company and let them work it out.

Re: Boat transportation

It seems to me it wouldn’t be much of a forum without product reviews. If vessel transporting is the company’s product you should be able to review it. You should see the scathing opinions of fishfinders and gps. :)

Re: Boat transportation

Regarding reporting experience with a vendor.

If a member reports facts about a transaction, I agree with 18Rabbit. That is a service to other members.

You must, however, avoid editorializing on those facts, making assumptions about a vendor's motives or drawing conclusions about the vendor's honesty, integrity or morals. That would risk libel litigation, and would fit our definition of bashing.

So, please, if you have a very satisfying experience with a vendor, tell us about it. Same with a disappointing experience.

Re: Boat transportation

I had a lousy experience with a Long Island boat transporter after having a few years of great experience with him.I used AAA boat transport and highly recommended him to fellow boaters after a few good transports. On time ,careful, etc. At the end of last season I purchased a newer boat and had 2 boats for a while.I had appointments with AAA transports for back to back days.He transported the old boat to my house on a wednesday and was going with me to get the new one the following day. This was going to be a longer haul to get the new boat so the cost was 3 times as much as usual. He called me that night to confirm and meet me at 5am thursday to do the transport.Well 5am came and went.I called his cell phone and office for 2 hours without a pickup or call back.I called his home to alert his family in the event he was involved in an accident and needed help.My calls became more for his safety and concern than my transport. That was over a year ago and to this day I have never recieved a call or explanation --NOTHING!I see him around all the time and I wouldnt even waste my time mentioning it to him.As I told fellow boaters about the good work he did for me I will also tell them how AAA boat transport of Long Island left me hanging. (EDITORIAL COMMENT DELETED) After telling my new transporter the story he said to me that I wasnt the only person he did that to.Charlie
