Boat wants to walk past 3/4 throttle

i just recently bought a stratos 283 with a johnson 150. everything on the boat works like a dream but when i get to about 3/4 into the gas it wants to walk on me bad. is my jack plate sitting to low? i have played with the trim and still cant get it wide open. i am beginning to think it is too much motor for the boat.

If you mean it wants to chine walk then yes, the motor is probably too low. You may have the wrong type prop also.

Yeah thats what i mean is chinewalk. I have a 24 pitch raker prop on it. how do i know how much to adjust the jack plate? it s not hydraulic.

Try posting this question in the Prop section, I'm sure someone will help you out. I have read some posts there regarding just about the same problem that you are having.
