Before you buy the boat ask if you can tow it on a trial run. You already know how the larson feels so do a comparison. That will tell you more than the scales will.

Really good idea- especially at the ramp. Years ago, my dad wanted a boat. We found the perfect one in the classifieds (remember those?), took my brother's pickup, and met the seller at the lake for a test run. The boat ran well, and as we got back to the launch ramp, I asked the seller " There's just one thing. If I give you my drivers license, may we try to pull the boat out with our truck?" He was hesitant, but relented. My brother's pickup had a slant six, and the clutch smoked and slipped as we tried to get that boat out of the water. Needless to say, everyone left disappointed. On the way home, I asked my dad " Did you like the boat?" "It was perfect" he replied. "It was just what I wanted." He looked about to cry. I'd never seen him like at before. So I said " How about we buy an old pickup ?" We found a '68 Ford with a 360 for $800, bought the boat, and lived happily ever after. 25 years later that truck's still worth that much, easy!
