Boat Windshield

I have a 2001 Bluewater Malibu and apparently a rock was thrown up from my tire and shattered the starboard drivers windshield. Is there an online outfit to buy boat windows through? Also, when you trailer your boat do you leave the walk through window open or closed? I had it closed and thought maybe it put pressure on the window. It looks like a 1 in a million shot for a rock from my tire to hit the window and it was 1/4 of a mile from home and no other cars on the road.

Do you have boat insurance? if so then have them take care of it unless you have a high deductable.

Otherwise try your local glass shop, they really are not difficult to replace.

Agree about the insurance, but I believe the windshield he is talking about is a curved tempered glass windshield. Not so easy.

It's not so bad if it's properly supported, but if a person has never done anything like it before then it can be daunting, unless of course it was flat glass, but we'll go on the assumption it isn't.

Oh another option would be a local boat salvage yard, why didn't I mention that earlier, anyhow back to my upholstery job in the boat, the wife is complaining about the wood laying around.

It is curved and tempered. Manafactured by Taylor Made Glass. I have a call into the stealer who is looking it up but said sometimes Taylor want to sell the complete setup, not one window. Boat insurance is $500.00 so not much help.

If it's 500 deductible, it will help alot. Those curved glass windshields are outrageous. If I ever break mine, it will probably total out the boat and I'll be parting it out.

It scares me everytime I get mine out on the highway.

Taylor will sell individuals with no hassle, it's the dealer that doesn't want to because he can't mark it up much, call around until you find one that doesn't give you that excuse.

The stealer wants 1177.90 + 65.00 shipping for the window. He said that was retail and about $255.00 to install (3 hours at 85.00) The install looks like it would be a snap. I may call the local auto glass dealer and see if he can get a better price from Taylor. Does anyone know a good parts department that might be closer to wholesale?

Ummm is he charging you for a whole windshield or just the replacement section?

Here is Taylor's direct number 518-773-0636, call them and let them know of your problem. I'm 99% sure they will sell you just the section you need.

Thanks for the number. I will give them a call on Monday and check with them direct. The price quoted was for the one window.
