i got the boat from my uncle who got it from a man who died he had no family and no papers were found for the boat it is a 16ft. aluminium simi v bottom i like the boat but need papers for it so i can start restoring it so how do i get papers made <br /><br />P.S. it is so old it doesnt have a registration number on it or any type of ID. plate

Tell them you made the boat and give it a capacity of size and cargo weight.

Trailer it to Alabama or Mississippi they will give you reg and numbers no questions ask.

My boat has no critical info plate, Hence no idenifiable numbers. Now, before I continue.. For some reason,, the sellor of the boat included the licence plate nummber on the trailor on the bill of sale. The "little old lady behind the counter " used that number hehe she asked me the serial number, I said im not sure, she looked at the bill of sale, saw the licence plate number and said "ow that must be it" Boats now registered, but I often wonder if I might run into some kinda of ramification due to that.

Just engrave the number she put on title on the boat transom

Many of the older boats did not have a HIN. My 1958 Tru Ski had absolutely nothing on it. No plate stating manufacturer and no HIN anywhere.

every boat i ever had didnt have papers! a bill of sale is all that is required here in new mexico<br />to get registered

We have strict laws here in VA about boat paperwork.<br /><br />However, when I found a boat sitting in a field, obviously abandoned for years, I took several photos, sent a letter and application to DNR headquarters and asked them to call me with any questions.<br /><br />Since the boat looked totally worthless, they agreed not to hassle me further and approved the application. I restored the boat and still have it.

If it is a pre 1972 model boat, then it did not have papers in Lousiana. Not a boat like that. Just go to the Tag office and tell them what you wrote, and they will be more than happy to tag it for you.
