Re: boat without motor

Many dealers buy their boats without a motor and install it in the dealership after it arrives.

There are TONS of used boats for sale that are motorless.

Re: boat without motor

I'm looking to upgrade my boat situation and have poured thru ads and so forth quite a bit lately. Since I have looked thru so many I can't remember each one I've seen, but I have seen quite a few for boat with no motor. I'm in middle Tennessee and this may have been a local ad, but I saw a SMOKIN' boat for an awesome price and couldn't figure out why it was so cheap. It was right in front of me and I somehow glossed over it, but it wasn't until I called the seller that I clued in the motor was blown.

If TN is not too far for you, I'll try to re-look that ad up.

**EDIT** just happen to peruse and hit it on the first try. One for sale on this site.

Re: boat without motor

You can buy boats new with no motor -- the order simply states "no pre-rigging". What that means is if the boat has a console, it would have the instruments, steering gear, cable, etc., but there would be no engine controls and obviously no engine. I know this to be fact because my Alumacraft Navigator was ordered that way and I installed the engine. There are huge numbers of used boats available with no engine.

Well if ya'll say so, I guess I just need to know where to look, the daily news dosn't seem to work and e-bay is not my first choice, (been burned once) so maybe the trader mags...? went to a couple of dealerships and they say no it can't be done...I think maybe a talk to the factory would do it, so thats my next step.,..:)
