Have a 2002 4 winns boat with 5.7 gi red volvo penta engine - unkown serial # at this time. Engine idles and can increase RPMs under no load - when trying to accelerate/plane boat engine bucks & kicks & refuses to cooperate. Have drained tank - no water : have replaced fuel filter : have cleaned fuel injectors : have changed spark plugs - to no avail. About to change electric fuel pump. I am looking for how to test fuel pump system & if need to replace is it possible to just replace pumps or do I need to replace entire unit( I believe part # is 3588865) and guidance on install instructions.
Also any other potential sources of problem to explore before I spend the 500-600 for fuel pump kit.
