boating Question

I live in mass & my boat is registered in mass. I have taken the coastguard coarse in mass. Is there anything stopping me from going boating up at the Newhampshire lakes?

If you are certified by the Coastgaurd, you should be Welcomed in any state, for you would be in the top 10% of the boaters "in the know"....

Tailbite, I also live in Mass but my boat is registered in N.H. where we have a summer cottage. I took the C.G. Certification test for N.H. this year and got certified(It's finally being mandated now in N.H. -- which I think is a good idea) I use the boat mainly in N.H. but after Labor day I use it in Mass. for as long as mother nature allows. You can boat in any waters with the certification but the boat cannot be moored in another state for more than 30 days (I believe it's 30) other than the state it is registered in.

New Hampshire is currently implementing a required license program over a seven year period. 2003 was the second year, and the program is based on your date of birth. Next year, you are required to be licensed if your date of birth is ON or AFTER January 1, 1973. In 2008, all are required to be licensed. New Hamshire recognizes the U.S. Coast Guard Boating Course as meeting the state requirement. Hi Tailbite,<br /><br />I just recently got my boaters operators liscense (sp???) And I asked the guy the same thing, He said that Your boat and you can go anywhere in the US, However it is not valid in Idaho -- becuase Idaho doesn't have a lot of lakes. <br /><br />JAZZ

MrBill, My family and I have a place on Balch Lake which is in East Wakefield, N.H. about 20 minutes south of Ossipee on the Maine/N.H. border. The lake is actually half N.H half Maine.<br />It's located in the seven lakes region. <br />I had until 2005 to get my boaters certificate but I figured I should get it done ASAP and not procrastinate. Good to have the knowledge and info even though I've been boating my whole life I did learn more information.
