Boat's Ready~The Lake Is Not

I bought an old 12' aluminum boat and trailer and I have been refurbishing it. I replaced seats and carpets, new ropes vests and a new MK troller and battery and wired it all up.
I noted that the temps were going up and that other than one storm we had that left us with some good snow in late December that it's been pretty mild. Cold overnight for the mountains here in AZ but mild day times in the high 40s-60? for the most part.
So yesterday I drove up to the lake to see how the lake looked and found that it has ice on it. Not much, but enough large sections that I don't want to risk damaging the boat so my first fishing trip is just going to have to wait. :(
Oh well, the lake is only 4 miles away so I can check on it pretty easy.

Be patient, it'll be worth the wait. Hopefully, a few days of warm weather will melt it all away.

Aw, come on, with the little amount of ice you had you can break it easy with your tinny! Go for it! Have fun! Ice doesn't break once it gets over an inch or so, but up till that point your boat will break it easily ... and if you make enough waves and break it up with them it sounds really neat ... almost like hundreds of plates being driven over and broken!

I decided when it hit 56? to try it anyway and went to the lake.
Most of the ice I saw yesterday was gone.
No leaks and it appears that the 40# MK is going to do just fine on the boat.
Now I suppose it will snow again and I will have to wait to go fishing but nothing is on the maps for awhile but it is that time of the year here.
