Well roscoe, lures are not cheap, but man them are some bad looking lures. They have been around a while.

Now if you figure and average of $4.00 per lure, then you have $268.00 dollars and throw in another $15 or so for the boxes and you have around $285.00 for the whole shooting match. ;)

But that is really stretching it, and I mean like a tight rubber band, for that bunch of "lures"

Ahhh Yes...

The human appetite for collecting...

You'd think some people would find better things to do with their money...

Like fix your boat!

H.

You never know!

There is some "old looking" lures in that box and maybe the buyer knew what they were worth to collectors.

At an auction once, two bidders bid a box of junk from 10 cents to over $100. I looked through it earlier and it looked like a box of junk.

The winner picked out the one tiny item he wanted and left the rest lay.

eBay is a great place to sell, but usually not a great place to buy.

Re: Bonkers on ebay.

There was an old Heddon circa 1912, new in box, looked like it just came from the store, sold for over $4600 on ebay last month. Thats all I paid for my boat.

I've seen locals bid on five 10 year old Kmart rods and reels. You know, the combos you pay $10 for new. They were busted and beaten but certainly not collectible or antiques. SOLD! $140.

I on the otherhand bought a big box of stuff for $2, I got 3 big new cans of WD-40 and a center punch.

roscoe,

One of three things happened.

1. Auction fever-momontary lapse of all judgement.

2. A "ringer" bidder.

3. Someone spotted something that the seller didn't know he had.

I have a freind that put up 30 poker chips on e-bay for bid. He was expecting may $50.00 for the whole lot.

An honest bidder sent him an e-mail and told him one of them was worth well over $2K. That one chip is now going on an international gaming offering.

Go figure.
