Books on CD

All,

I drive a lot so I listen to books on CD. I've tried downloading them to an iPod but it is way to complicated, slow and does not work well. So, I stick with the CD'S and MP3's.

I get them from the local library. The best part is FREE!

My questions are:

1. Any new titles that are a must listen to?

2. Why are books written by women so, generally, raunchy?

#2 surprised me as I ran out of titles written by authors we all know; Clancy, et al.

Shane,

Thanks, I'll look into them. The great part about the public library is that I can order them for myself and others to enjoy..

The library is ONE public service that all can use an appreciate.

Re: Books on CD

Since I bought my MP3 player I have not used my car radio. I started with Stephen King The Dark Tower. Probably about 150 discs in those 4 or 5 books. I also am currently on book 7 of Harry Potter. I had never seen any of the movies. I am into Monty Python and after listening to the first chapter in Harry Potter book 1 I was totally addicted. I now have 5 Tom Clancy novels and one Vince Flynn novel to burn. After reading and listening to my kids about the I Pod license and other issues with burning CDs I went with a Phillips 4 gig MP3 player and really love it. When I put a cd book into my computer it trys to start converting it to MP3. Before it can rip I stop it and change all the titles of the disc and track names. First disc will be A and the first track is A01 and the 12th track would be A12. Kind of a pain doing this but I have found that the books on CD tend to have terrible labels and if I dont do this they get out of order on my MP3 player. If you have never read or seen any Harry Potter I highly recommend it. I am 50 and my kids are both girls and now listening to it I have more I can discuss with my kids. I too get all of this from the library and my goal is to never listen to the news again or listen to a commercial again. Lots of books out there. I find myself driving around the block at times cause I am so engrossed in the book I am listening to I dont want to get home.
