I have a 15 year old 23' CC that has the original blue anti fouling bottom paint on it and it looks like nasty. About 30% of it is wore off and I want it gone. I have read many of the posts on what to do. I ran accross a product that is advertised as "the best solution."

The product is called Peel Away Safety Strip. They claim that it will remove up to 10 layers of bottom paint without damaging the gel coat with one application and is guaranteed. I called them and was advised that three gallons should do my boat. At $60.00 a gallon I would like to know if anyone has used this stuff & what their results were. Their web site is:

http://www.dumondchemicals.com/html/products.htm

Some years ago I started to remove the paint on the sides (nasty job - I never finished). The gel coat underneath the paint did not look like it had been sanded before painting. If I go ahead with this Dumond stuff will I need to repaint or put any type of new coating on the bottom? I keep the boat on a trailer or rack at a marina and do not have need for anti fouling protection.

Howard
